RE: GREETINGS & UPCOMING EVENTS FROM THE PERAK BAR COMMITTEE

As we march into the New Year, the Perak Bar Committee extends it well wishes to all members of the Bar. From March 2020 until the end of 2022, our way of life has been altered  by the effects of the pandemic on the entire world. Let us look forward to this year and work collectively towards improving and enhancing all aspects of our lives, including work.

1.FORTHCOMING PERAK BAR AGM

First on the agenda of the Perak Bar Committee is to inform members that the ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING WILL BE HELD ON 17.2.2023 (FRIDAY). Kindly make all effort to attend this very important event in our legal calendar. Further information and the relevant Notice will be issued shortly.

2. NORTHERN REGION CONVEYANCING SEMINAR

The Perak Bar Committee together with the Conveyancing Practice Committee of the Bar Council, is organising the inaugural Northern Region Conveyancing Seminar on 2.2.2023. A circular on this was issued to members on 30.12.2022. The Seminar features many distinguished speakers, some of whom have decades of experience in conveyancing practice, to share. The seminar offers an excellent opportunity for us to broaden our knowledge in this area of practise and to engage with the speakers on the topics for discussion. 

3. PTG PERAK

Members are to take note that effective 2.2.2023, all applications for conducting official title searches, obtaining certified copies of titles and MB/State Authority’s consent, must be made online using the E2E services on the e-Tanah public portal via https://ptg.perak.gov.my/etanah-awam . The authority concerned has informed that physical attendance is no longer required for submitting such applications, effecting payment, checking on the status of the same and collection.

Further for matters relating to transfer and charge, all legal firms are compulsorily required to firstly apply via the e-Tanah portal before submitting the relevant instruments of dealings at the counter of PTG, Ipoh or the relevant Land Offices in Perak. 

4. FILING OF PAPERS FOR CHAMBERING STUDENTS WITH AGC

Kindly take note and be guided by Circular No: 378/2022 issued by the Bar Council on the mode of filing/ service of papers concerning chambering students with the Attorney General Chambers. 

5. MALAYSIAN BAR AGM

Members are urged to attend the MALAYSIAN BAR AGM SCHEDULED FOR 18.3.2023 (SATURDAY). There are many issues concerning the Bar which will be addressed and discussed at the AGM which will have an effect on the practise of law and it will be well worth our time and effort to attend the same.

6.INTERNATIONAL MALAYSIA LAW CONFERENCE FROM 11^th to 13^th JULY 2023

Members are encouraged to take advantage of the early offer for registration which ends on 31.1.2023. Kindly refer to Circular No. 4 of 2023 issued by the Bar Council for further details. The Conference promises to deliver interesting and relevant topics for discussion.

In this respect, the Perak Bar Committee has decided to sponsor 10 persons to attend this  Conference. Members with/ below 10 years of practise and chambering students interested to attend this Conference, can apply by providing the required details to the Secretariat of the Perak Bar Committee on / before 20^th of January 2023 and successful applicants will be notified in due course. The selection of the 10 successful applicants will be solely decided and based on the discretion by the relevant Perak Bar Committee members and the decision made is final. Please note that all successful applicants are compulsorily required to provide a written report to the Perak Bar Committee on the attendance at the 3 day Conference

Please note that the sponsorship by the Perak Bar Committee is only for the registration fee for the Conference . All other expenses will  have to be borne by the successful applicant.
