RE: THE WALK TO SAFEGUARD JUDICIAL INDEPENDENCE – 14 JULY 2025 & EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING – 26 JULY 2025

We wish to inform members that the Bar Council has announced The Walk to Safeguard Judicial Independence, which is scheduled to take place as follows:

Date                    : Monday, 14 July 2025
Time                   : 2:00 p.m.
Gathering Point : Palace of Justice (entrance facing Perbadanan Putrajaya)
Destination        : Prime Minister’s Office
Dress code        : Chambers attire

This Walk is an important expression of the Bar’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the independence of the Judiciary – a cornerstone of our constitutional democracy.

To facilitate participation, Perak Bar will be arranging transportation (bus/van) for members who are interested in joining the Walk. Departure will be on Monday morning from Ipoh.

In addition, please be informed that an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of the Malaysian Bar will be held in relation to the same issue:

Venue : Time: 10:00 am
Venue : MATRADE Hall, 3rd floor, Menara MATRADE, Jalan Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

Transportation will also be arranged for Perak Bar members wishing to attend the EGM similar to the above.

We strongly encourage all members to participate in these crucial events and stand in solidarity with the legal fraternity in defending the independence of our Judiciary.
