RE: APPLICATION FOR LETTERS OF ADMINISTRATION OR GRANT OF PROBATE IN RESPECT OF DECEASED WHO RESIDED IN CAMERON HIGHLANDS

In respect of the above matter, it has been brought to the attention of the Perak Bar Committee that applications for Letters of Administration and Grant of Probate filed in Ipoh High Court in respect of estates where the identity card showed that the deceased resided in Cameron Highlands or had properties within the jurisdiction of Cameron Highlands were rejected and ordered to be withdrawn and refiled in High Court Temerloh, Pahang. This has resulted in logistics, time and costs issues for the Solicitor and the client due to the distance from Cameron Highlands to Temerloh when compared to Ipoh.

The Perak Bar Committee took up the issue by letter dated 1.10.2025 and by letter dated 9.10.2025 from the Ipoh High Court we have been informed that YA Hakim Utama Dato’ Wahab bin Mohamed has graciously agreed that where the address of the deceased in the identity card is Cameron Highlands or the deceased had properties in Cameron Highlands than the application for Letters of Administration or Grant of Probate can be filed in Ipoh High Court.
