The Perak Bar Committee recently paid a courtesy visit to YB Dato’ Sivanesan a/l Achalingam, the Perak State Executive Councillor responsible for the portfolios of Human Resources, National Integration and Health.

The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere providing an opportunity for both parties to exchange views on matters of mutual interest and explore avenues for future collaboration between the Perak Bar and the Perak State Government.

Among the key areas discussed were:

1. Joint Conferences and Professional Programmes

The Perak Bar and the State Government discussed the possibility of organising conferences, forums and seminars on issues of legal, social and public importance. Such programmes would serve as platforms for meaningful engagement between legal practitioners, government agencies, industry stakeholders and the public.

2. Legal Awareness Initiatives

Both parties recognised the importance of enhancing public awareness of legal rights and responsibilities. Discussions centred on potential collaborative efforts to promote legal literacy through public education programmes, outreach initiatives and community engagement activities throughout the State of Perak.

3. The Launch of Perak Bar Mediation Centre

The Perak Bar highlighted the growing importance of mediation as an effective and cost efficient means of dispute resolution and the launch of Perak Bar Mediation Centre. The parties explored opportunities to work together in promoting mediation awareness and encouraging the wider use of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms among businesses, organisations and members of the public.

The Perak Bar expresses its appreciation to YB Dato’ Sivanesan for his warm reception and willingness to engage with the legal profession. The discussions reflect a shared commitment towards strengthening access to justice, fostering community engagement and advancing initiatives that would benefit the people of Perak.

The Perak Bar looks forward to further engagement and collaboration with the State Government in the areas discussed.

Thank you.
