Dear Members,
CONGRATULATIONS TO S. V. NAMASOO AND SANGITHA NAMASOO ON THE PUBLICATION OF CIVIL LITIGATION IN PRACTICE
The Perak Bar is pleased to extend its warmest congratulations to our members, Mr S. V. Namasoo and Ms Sangitha Namasoo, on the forthcoming publication of their book, Civil Litigation in Practice.
The publication of a substantive legal work by members of our own Bar is a matter of considerable pride for the Perak Bar. It is especially gratifying to see the experience and knowledge acquired through years of practice being translated into a resource that will benefit not only fellow practitioners, but also pupils, young lawyers, law students and the wider legal profession.
Civil Litigation in Practice is conceived as a practical guide to the conduct of civil litigation. Rather than being merely a textbook on legal principles, the book takes the reader through the civil litigation process in a practical and structured manner, addressing the relevant law, leading authorities, procedural requirements and practical considerations. It also incorporates practical guidance, Pro-Tips, summary tables and charts to assist practitioners in navigating procedural and substantive issues efficiently.
The book covers a wide range of matters encountered in civil practice, including causes of action, pleadings and amendments, substituted and electronic service, preliminary objections, summary disposal, classification of documents, unless orders, subpoenas, expert evidence, recalling witnesses, recantation evidence, variation of orders and judgments, civil appeals, as well as forms and precedents.
The work is particularly noteworthy for bringing together the perspective of Mr S. V. Namasoo, who has nearly four decades of experience in legal practice with a strong focus on litigation, and Ms Sangitha Namasoo, whose practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation. Their combined experience provides the book with both the benefit of extensive practical experience and the perspective of a younger generation of practitioners.
The Perak Bar has always valued the contribution of its members not only in the courtroom and in service to their clients, but also in advancing legal knowledge and contributing to the development of the profession. Publications such as this serve an important purpose in preserving practical knowledge, encouraging continuous learning and assisting the next generation of advocates and solicitors.
On behalf of the Perak Bar, I congratulate Mr S. V. Namasoo and Ms Sangitha Namasoo on this significant achievement. I commend them for their contribution to legal literature and wish them every success with the publication and reception of Civil Litigation in Practice.
I hope that members will join me in extending our heartfelt congratulations to both authors.
Yours sincerely,
DR SARAVANABAVAN MATHIALAGAN
Chairman
