RE : NEEDS ANALYSIS SURVEY FOR A PROPOSED NEW BAR COURSE FOR LEGAL PRACTITIONERS (DEADLINE: 20 JAN 2026)

Dear Members & Pupils in Chambers,

RE : NEEDS ANALYSIS SURVEY FOR A PROPOSED NEW BAR COURSE FOR LEGAL PRACTITIONERS (DEADLINE: 20 JAN 2026)

We refer to the circular issued by the Secretary of the Malaysian Bar on 9 January 2026 in relation to the Needs Analysis Survey for a Proposed New Bar Course for Legal Practitioners.

The Common Bar Course Curriculum Committee, through its Taskforce, is currently undertaking this survey to obtain valuable feedback from relevant stakeholders, including Members of the Malaysian Bar and pupils in chambers. The survey seeks views on the Certificate in Legal Practice (“CLP”), including the need for its reform, as well as suggestions on the core competencies, delivery methods, and assessment approaches that would best equip young lawyers for their early years of practice or careers in the corporate sector.

Members and pupils in chambers are strongly encouraged to participate in this important initiative by completing the survey on or before 20 January 2026 (Tuesday).

· For Members: Please click here to access and submit the survey.

· For pupils: Please click here to access and submit the survey.

Should you have any enquiries, please contact Ms Vilashini Vijayan, Director, Practitioners Affairs Division, at vila@malaysianbar.org.my or 03-2050 2095.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
