2. PERAK BAR ANNUAL DINNER 2022

The much awaited and anticipated event for the year is scheduled for 26th November 2022 at GALASA CALDWELL, Ipoh.  Tickets are priced at RM 120.00 and members can start placing their bookings from the date of issuance of this circular. Table bookings are also available. Kindly contact the Perak Bar Secretariat for further details. The highlight of the Annual Dinner is a performance by the famous Dr Jason Leong and many interesting and fun activities are lined up for the special night.

3. TELUK INTAN BAR ROOM

Members are to take note that the Committee has been approached by the IPD and the presiding Judge at the Teluk Intan Lower Courts to consider a request by the IPD to acquire some space within the Bar Room for purposes of expanding the space within the lock up, which is adjacent to the Bar Room, to be used to seat the police personnel manning the lock up.
At a meeting with both the IPD and the Sessions Court Judge on 17.8.2022, the Chairperson together with a representative of the Teluk Intan lawyers,  were shown first hand, of the practical constraints faced by the police and the potential breach of security imminent with the current limited space within the lockup, thus the need for acquiring space from the Bar Room to allow for expansion and renovation to be done to the Court lock up room.

We had requested for more details on the area which is intended to be acquired and had also stressed the concerns on privacy which is required for lawyers using the Bar Room, to which verbal assurance has been given that the materials to be used in the renovation will be sufficient to provide soundproofing and further that the intended acquisition will not affect the entrance of the Bar Room as it currently stands. We are still awaiting further details from the authority concerned . Members are encouraged to share their views on this issue with any member of the Perak Bar Committee as soon as possible before a decision is taken.

4. COUNSELLING SERVICES PROGRAMME FOR MEMBERS OF THE BAR

Reference is made to Circular No 180/2022 dated 24th June 2022 issued by the Malaysian Bar.
