Dear Members and Pupils in Chambers,
RE: DIGITAL SIGNATURES
It has come to the attention of the Perak Bar Committee that the Court has raised concerns regarding the use of digital signatures in documents filed in court. In particular, there have been instances where a pupil’s or petitioner’s signature was uploaded and inserted in PNG/JPEG format with a black or grey background. This presentation gives the impression that the signature is not original, thereby raising doubts about its authenticity.
To maintain a professional and credible image, especially when dealing with the Court, all members and pupils are reminded and advised to use clear and proper digital signatures. A proper digital signature should appear clean, with a transparent background, and be correctly positioned in the designated signature area. Kindly refrain from using scanned or copied images of handwritten signatures with coloured or opaque backgrounds, as such practices may give the impression of inauthenticity.
We kindly remind all members and pupils to follow the proper standards when using digital signatures, in accordance with both legal and professional expectations.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
