Dear Members and Pupils in Chambers,
RE: ENHANCED SECURITY MEASURES AT THE PERAK COURT COMPLEXES
We refer to the above matter.
We wish to inform that, following a recent security incident in which prohibited drugs were seized from a member of the public within the court premises in Ipoh High Court, the Judiciary has resolved to enhance security measures at all Perak Court complexes.
The matter was discussed at a meeting convened by The Honourable Justice Moses a/l Susayan, the Judge in Charge of Security for the Perak Courts, together with representatives of the Perak Bar Committee. At the meeting, The Honourable Justice emphasised the importance of maintaining the safety, security and integrity of the court premises for all court users.
In this regard, Members are requested to take note of the following security measures, which will be implemented with immediate effect:
Members are kindly requested to advise their clients and the family members of accused persons of these revised security arrangements in advance so as to minimise inconvenience and avoid unnecessary delays at the court premises.
In addition, Members are kindly reminded to impress upon their clients and all persons accompanying them to court the importance of observing proper courtroom etiquette and maintaining the decorum befitting judicial proceedings. This includes ensuring that they are appropriately attired when attending court, that all mobile phones and electronic devices are switched off or placed in silent mode, and that they conduct themselves in an orderly, respectful and courteous manner at all times whilst within the court premises. Compliance with these requirements will assist in preserving the dignity of the courts and facilitating the smooth administration of justice.
The Perak Bar Committee appreciates the cooperation and understanding of all Members and Pupils in Chambers in supporting these enhanced security measures, which are intended to safeguard the security and orderly administration of justice within the Perak Courts.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
